We’ve all been there! One mistake compounded by several more. What is the message?
I think it’s great for us amateurs! This is an example of one of the greatest current golfers having issues that the weekend golfer encounters all the time. In my mind, it is disconnecting every bad shot from the next shot. Hard? Yes! Change the swing thoughts of “need to make up that lost shot” to “knock it close for birdie”. Channel the feeling that you’re on the cusp of a great score, even when you’re struggling for bogey. Spieth would have paid big money for a bogey on #12! Pro golfers have the advantage of practice time, perhaps a team of coaches, and a full-time caddie so they don’t lose focus, but it STILL happens.
Tee shot in water, take a drop NOT in the drop zone. Fail the second, over-compensate the third into the sand over the green. He’s lucky it was ONLY a 7 on a par 3.
You can’t undo the last shot. All you can do is limit the damage. My problem is trying to make up several shots with one “extra effort” shot that invariably puts me in even worse shape. Like the OB tee shot that I repeat 2 times! Usually, pro golfers and pro tournaments remind us how mortal we are. But sometimes, like today at the Masters, it reminds us that between the ears, we’re not much different from many pro golfers! ‘Take your medicine” as the saying goes! I find this great drama on TV, but even of greater import to my game. Thanks Jordon!!
